Early 2000’s throwback fashion nostalgia is alive and well. The 2021 BET awards aired on a recent Sunday night in June and Zendaya’s Versace gown made the internet go insane. Her red carpet look pays homage to the same dress Beyonce wore 18 years ago to the 2003 BET awards where she gave her first performance of Crazy In Love. Queen Bey wore an altered shorter mini-skirt version of the same Versace dress to the event back then. The iconic dress was from the Versace Spring- Summer 2003 collection but it still feels just as fresh and on-trend today. With the revival of the early 2000’s fashion nostalgia that’s so in right now, the timing was right for Zendaya to reintroduce this fabulous flashback look. Zendaya’s inspired outfit was curated by her amazing celebrity fashion stylist, Law Roach. In perfect minimalistic harmony, matching heels and sparkling yellow diamonds accessorized the flowy purple and green neoneque low cut halter dress that was full length with a slit that goes on for days. Zendaya’s dark striking hair was styled slicked back in a long pony leaving the magnificent details of the dress visible to shine. In a post shared by Law Roach @luxurylaw on Instagram, the “stylist with an ARCHIVE”, acknowledged the history being made by marking it with a video of the talented actress modeling the dress to the soundtrack of Beyonce’s signature song in the background. Zendaya also captured the moment and honored Beyonce with an infamous reference captioning one of her Instagram posts from the night stating “crazy in love”. Even the famous designer of the dress herself, Donatella Versace commented on the comparison noting how both women rocked the look in their own right. Following suit, a steady stream of many other celebrities also took to Instagram to share the love.
