Apperativo is Italy’s version of happy hour, where drinks are half price and include all you can eat mini plates. Milan is known for its variety of eclectic Apperitivos. Although Apperitivos has been a long-held tradition in many other cities in Italy, Milan has definitely perfected it. When it comes to Apperativos Milan has a little bit everything, from something to offer the casual crowd to chic fine dining apperativo venues which are fashion-inspired/great for people watching to even exotic Apperitivis offering a taste of international cuisine. Here is a list of my favorite Apperativo places in Milan.

Formerly known as the legendary Royalto, 55 Milano is one of the most popular apperitvo spots in Milan. The space is owned by Saverio Macri, a former soccer player for Inter Milan. Guests will find themselves welcomed in a warm and refined ambiance while enjoying a variety of dining options such as apperitivos, dinners, and after dinners. The many islands of food tastings make for quite an abundant apperativo, with a wide selection of choices. Guests in the mood for a delightful dinner can stay after hours to check out The Bistrot, which features a refined menu of options for antipasti along with an abundance of A la Carte choices. 55 Milano also houses a lounge-like space that hosts live music, themed nights, and rotating DJ sets, highlighting some of the best talents in the world.

Deus Café is one of the best apperitivos in Milan. Deus café brings together the world of motorcycles, bicycles, and surf to provide a unique and inviting atmosphere merged with fine dining and fabulous cocktails. The original Deus Café was born in Australia; however, today, Deus has multiple locations around the globe in cities such as Ibiza, Venice, Capetown, Sydney, Bali, and many more. Deuces many locations consists of its Cafes and Workshop spaces, both have which have locations in Milan.

Known as Temples of Enthusiasm, Deuce Workshops are large exhibition spaces that bring together café’s, workshops, and shops where customers can interact with some of the rare objects the brand produces. The concept behind the space is to give off the vibe of an artisanal workshop, all while combing three very distinct products with an emphasis on craftsmanship and quality. Deus also produces its own brand of clothing and accessories, consisting mostly of streetwear, which is available at the shop. The brand is mainly known for its tees, which have very cool graphic prints. Deuce café is a place where people come together, space has a large outdoor patio lush with greenery, and plush seating areas for groups. The atmosphere is casual and laid back with many areas for outdoor seating. When browsing through the menu, you will find options from all around the globe, from American style hamburgers to Italian classics such as cacio e pepe, and even Indonesian-inspired dishes. The café is known for its apperitivos and is one of the few places to find American-style breakfast in Milan.

Botanical Club has two Milan locations, one in the design district of zona Tortona, and the other is located on Via. Pastrengo. The restaurant is known for its large bar, which is surrounded by lush green plant life and is said to serve some of the best cocktails in Milan. As the first Milanese distillery, signature cocktails go hand in hand to complement the contemporary food culture. Cocktails are a quality concoction that makes use of all four senses. Plates are small and sharable with an emphasis on modern contemporary cuisine. The menu is very diverse, from raw bars, bowls, and many Japenese-inspired dishes such as sushi and sashimi to avocado toasts. There are even brunches with American-style breakfasts, including pancakes.

The Botanical Club has one of the most extensive collections in Milan for gin, literally hundreds of labels that are personally selected each week. Botanical Club also hosts live DJ sets that liven up the atmosphere.

Created in 2004 Obica was founded by Silvio Ursini, and is the first Mozzarella bar in the world. Obica is based on the philosophy of “Food to Share,” a tradition at the heart of the Italian familial culinary experience. The Mozzarella at the restaurant is certified and sourced directly from the best selection of farms in the Campania region of Italy.Three types of Mozzarellas are offered that run the range from Delicate and Intense to Smoked. The restaurant also serves a full menu of pizzas along with pasta dishes derived from a selection of high-quality ingredients, including Obicas Mozzarella.Obica also features an impressive wine collection with high-quality selections from both the Northern and Southern regions of Italy.In keeping with the tradition of Italian cocktails, Obica also has its very own Mixologist on hand to serve exciting and inspiring cocktails. Obica hosts apperitivos daily, in which guests can try the full range of Mozerallas available, along with many of the other items the restaurant has to offer.

Abbotegga is located in the Porta Romana section of Milan, and here you will find a warm and cozy atmosphere typical of a central Italian Salumeria. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing the best and highest quality of ingredients from Central and Northern Italy. At Abbotega, you will find a variety of plates from regions such as Lazio, Umbria, and Tuscany, ranging from amatriciana, spaghetti alla carbonara to meat and seafood dishes with authentic Italian flavors. Many of the products used to create the restaurant’s flavorful fare are available for purchase as well. Abbotegga is also known for its great apperitivos, which the restaurant hosts daily and is known to be one of the best in Milan.

Fondiere Milanese is a hip rustic eatery located in the Naviglio area of Milan. The mood and the decorum truly matches the neighborhood’s hipster vibes. The space has tons of character. Housed in a refurbished post-industrial factory with hints of the original structure still in place, the space was revamped in 2013. The charming courtyard, which is a favorite for apperativo, and adds loads of character to the place. The restaurant is known for its cool brunches and is one of the few places to serve American breakfast in Milan. Fondiere Milanese is also known for its live music.

Part Gallery, part Restaurant, part Lounge, Sixieme bistro is perhaps one of the most stylish places in Milan. The concept was born from art director Samuele Savio and entrepreneur Mauro Orlandelli. The stylish gem of a bistro is located in a hidden courtyard characterized by an old Milanese aesthetic and tropical vegetation. Upon entering the gallery, visitors will be greeted by large 16th-century arched doors and overhanging balconies. The mood of the bistro is charming and romantic, characterized by midcentury velvet furniture, grey walls, and a candlelit space. The menu is simple, seasonal, and local, with an emphasis on contemporary Italian cuisine. For drinks look no further than the onsite mixologists to serve up sophisticated cocktails. Sixieme also hosts private dinners, where guests can book the private dining room, known for its ancient architectural appeal.

Cesario 7 is owned and created by Canadian Italian design duo D2sqaured. Opened in 2013, the chic and sophisticated poolside restaurant and lounge is a Milanese staple for the fashion week crowd. Located on top of the pairs design headquarters, Cesario 7 consists of two rooftop pools, a restaurant, and a poolside lounge. The project was born from a collaboration between d2squared and Milanese architectural firm Storage. Dining at Cesario 7 is quite the experience. With panoramic rooftop views of the entire city. The Michelin starred restaurant is under the direction of Chef Elio Sironi and serves up the best in modern Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist.
