GREEN ACCESSORIES
The hottest color in accessories for the season is green! We saw it all over the runways and now moving into retail. From jewelry and handbags to shoes and hair bobbles, think green! It’s a great way to give your outfits a pop of color.
Part of ongoing Y2k trend list, as the 2000’s are super in again right now, is that name plates are back in style and this is no surprise. This trend was highly popular throughout the 90’s into the early 2000’s. Without a doubt nameplates are probably one of the biggest throwback trends from the hip hop fashion of that era. Back then, it was mostly a teenage trend and nameplates could be seen on everything from oversized large gold-plated earrings to emblems hanging off of gold chains. In Summer 2022, this style is back in full effect and is now bigger and bolder than ever. How it differs from the name plates seen in the past is that the trend is a lot less street wear and is now being styled with a variety of trends that are in this Summer. This look is very hot right now in the form of chokers, and an evolved version of the belly chain, another trend that was supper hot from the Y2k era. For Summer 2022, we are seeing this trend worn in a way that is a lot less street wear and more up styled.
Mary Janes
We can’t forget footwear and while ballet flats usually reign supreme in Spring and Summer, there’s an addition to watch this season. The Mary Jane shoe is the one to wear in the warmer weather. This simple style with a strap comes in flat and heeled versions. This vintage favorite has gotten an upgrade and it’s not your plain Mary Jane.
Chokers
A warm weather favorite is the choker necklace. For this season, we’re seeing chunky gold styles as well as statement versions with pearls and crystals incorporated that are other trends featured this season too.
PEARLS
Pearls have been trending now for a few seasons and this one is no different. They continue to be popular and if you already jumped on this trend, you will get plenty more use out of these pieces. Pearls are a classic element that never goes out of style even if it’s trending so this is one to have in your accessory arsenal for sure!
CHAIN NECKLACES
Similar and sister to layered necklaces, chain link necklaces are trending too. The paperclip style in various sizes is particularly popular and featured in almost every set. For the past few seasons, we are used to seeing these strands in gold and silver metals. However, thanks to a creative collaboration between Moschino and Jeremy Scott, for summer 2022 this trend has a fresh new look coming in candy colored links taking on a more playful effect!
Butterfly
Riding off another major throwback trend is butterfly motifs. We’re seeing butterflies landing on accessories in a big way. You’ll spot them on earrings, rings, belts, and even adorning sunglasses. This is another throwback from the Y2k era. Where the famous butterfly glasses by French fashion house Chloe where the hottest thing in eyewear. Celebrities are widely sporting the trend and probably the most well known is Mariah Carey, whose love of everything butterflies have spanned the decades from the 90’s and Y2k though today. This is a popular trend from that era that is back and everywhere this Spring and Summer.
Gladiators
This shoe gives us Goddess and Summer vibes. The flat sandal with straps that stylishly wrap up and around the ankle and shin make for some serious leg candy. These sandals are great to wear for boho looks and with maxi dresses. It’s a versatile shoe can easily be dressed up or down.
CRYSTALS ROCK
A fun and fresh new on the scene piece is crystal jewelry and this trend is blowing up everywhere. Although this type of jewelry was hugely popular in the 80’s and early 90’s we haven’t seen a revival in quite some time….until now! You can find a beautiful array of stunning stones and colors that are known to carry special meanings. Authentic crystals are natural elements that are organically formed from stones. They are the perfect, quintessential jewelry to channel good vibes for Summer!
Platforms
A throwback style of footwear that was all the rage in the 70’s and again in the Y2K era is now back in fashion and on trend, but, with an update. Platform shoes and heels are super popular but, the twist this time around is that you’ll find platform styles in everything from sandals to sneakers. We also love the added support and inches we can gain from wearing them!
We saw this hot trend in Summer 2021 with the popularity of camp jewelry and the nostalgia craze. These abstract rings are still in for this season with plenty of fun candy colors to choose from. For Spring/Summer 2022, we are seeing this trend now expand into more than just rings. Zara’s seasonal collection includes blob style earrings as well. A big trend in jewelry this season is all about clay and colored styles to accessorize with!
